The client sustained an L1-L2 compression fracture and a non-displaced fracture in her wrist. A week later, the client suffered a pulmonary embolism and passed away, after a week in the hospital. The insurance company disputed coverage (classifying the claim as an assault), liability, and relatedness of the pulmonary embolism and subsequent passing of the client due to pre-existing heart issues.
