A\u00a0middle school student was\u00a0running during\u00a0cross-country practice<\/a>\u00a0and crossing the street at a marked crosswalk near 15th and Ash Street in Ottawa, Kansas,\u00a0when he was hit by a driver. He suffered head injuries and needed medical care, leaving his parents worried about his health and how the accident would\u00a0impact\u00a0his future.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make matters worse, the\u00a0initial\u00a0police report incorrectly blamed the child for the crash. The investigating officer personally knew <\/em>the\u00a0at-fault\u00a0driver and filed a report that did not accurately reflect what happened. This made an already stressful situation even more overwhelming for the family.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
